Stream: “Exactly Where I Was”
I sent Jesse from Bear Cub an email a few weeks ago to see if he wanted to submit a song for the 12 days of Christmas promotion. He emailed me back and asked if we wanted a cover or an original and I told him that either would be awesome. I assumed what we would get back was something acoustic and simple. Naturally, I was wrong. Bear Cub laid down a pretty stellar track and it’s definitely one of my favorites that we’re presenting this season. It covers a lot of ground in just under three minutes.
Before the end of the year, the band will be playing a couple shows in Pittsburgh before entering the studio in 2011 to record their third official release (after releasing a full-length and a follow-up EP in 2010). The handful of demos I heard last night sounded pretty phenomenal.
If you’re not familiar with Bear Cub, it’s time to play catch up before you sleep on them any longer and they have like 6 albums of material released. The first, self-titled album will assuredly make it to our top albums of 2010 lists. If you’re a fan of bands like Limbeck, The Format or fun., this band is right up your alley. It’s folk music with exceptional pop sensibility.
You can check our Bear Cub’s Myspace and Facebook page if you’re feeling the tune today. Happy Holidays, friends!
