I have to say, we’re all excited as hell about this album. Andre and Augusto did an amazing job writing and designing the record – and Mike Bridgett at the Monster House worked his ass off getting this to sound just right. The end result is something we’re all really proud to present to you.

We heard the news yesterday that Pinsky was disbanding and we’re just incredibly sad about it.  Pinsky is the first band we actually signed, and Losing Touch was the first record where we got involved in all the official “label stuff”.  We’re so proud of that project, and it will always be one of our favorite albums.  From a personal standpoint; Jeff, Pete, Andre and Miketon, they are like our brothers, and it sucks to see this come to an end.

It also sucks because the guys had plans to head down to Baltimore in a couple months to record with Brian McTernan.  It’s a project that we were all super excited about.

But here’s the deal – Pinsky is breaking up.  They’re going to play their remaining shows.  They’re going to set up a hell of a rager in Portland, Maine for their final performance.

And then in May, they’re going down to Baltimore to record with Brian.  We convinced them to record the EP because when you’ve been a band for 5+ years and you finally get a chance to record with one of your idols, you do it, plain and simple.  Whatever comes out of those sessions, we’re going to release, “posthumous,” digitally.

If you don’t know Pinsky, now’s the time to acquaint yourself.  If you’re already a fan like us, then you know they don’t want you to be sad about this breakup.  They’d prefer you pour yourself a drink and celebrate the good times.

Statement from the band:
The End – 2007-2012

Over the last five years, we the boys of Pinsky have grown to be a family, experiencing some incredible highs (and lows) together during our personal and professional lives. It’s with much sadness that we announce we will be disbanding and going our separate ways. We remain great friends with fond memories of our time shared on stage and in the studio. In an effort to end things properly, we’ll be finishing the string of shows in ME, MA, and NH with a possible last Portland date added to be our final hurrah. Then we’ll be heading to Salad Days Studio in Baltimore at the end of May to record a few last songs with producer Brian McTernan – something we had been planning/looking forward to since before the split. We’ll be releasing those tracks digitally sometime this summer and giving the band a proper send-off. Thank you to everyone who has supported Pinsky over the years and liked us enough to give a second listen. If you haven’t had a chance to see us live yet, we hope you can make one of our last dates and help to end this party right.

We’re officially welcoming Boardroom Heroes to Sinking Ship Records.  Andre and Augusto Pagliarini make up the band presently (bass/guitars/vocals and drums, respectively) and they play skate punk like you haven’t heard since the 90s.  Boardroom Heroes have been recording their upcoming album at the Monster House and we should be able to announce a release date shortly.  It’s blisteringly fast and brilliant and we’re all extremely excited to put out the record!

Things are quiet in the Sinking Ship this week, but we’ve got a few things in the works.  In the next couple days, you should be able to get Pinsky‘s older EP Two For the Road (Deluxe Edition) on digital retailers and we’re talking to the guys about offering up some bundled packages (and maybe some back-to-school savings).  The guys should have some more news in the next few days that we’ll be able to share with you.

A Great Big Pile of Leaves signed with our friends at Topshelf Records for a couple of brand new EPs, and I’m really excited to hear them.  Sounds like the guys have been recording the material themselves, which I fully back.  They’re pretty much experts in the studio and I think they do a great job of capturing their own sound better than any third-party would.  I think those EPs are going to be released in the fall/winter of this year.

Lastly, let’s see – how do I want to phrase this… Are you in a band?  Do you suck?  If not, you should email us and make us listen to your tunes.  We’re always looking to expand our roster and put out more good music.  Impress us.

Ever feel like punching someone in the face?

Here’s the deal – I’ve downloaded albums on Mediafire.  I get it.  It’s a free and easy way to fill up your iPod.  For the music listener, it’s the equivalent of an all-you-can-eat buffet.  For the music content owner though, it feels like we worked extremely hard to put out an album at reasonable prices ($5.99 for digital on Amazon or $9 for a physical CD), but someone came along and decided to undermine our efforts – to give away an album that isn’t theirs to give.

Piracy sucks.  I hear the argument all the time that bands should be happy that lots of kids are listening to their album, creating more fans in turn.  While it’s nice to get fans, artists don’t see a return from those illegal downloads.  With services like Rdio and Spotify becoming more prominent, ripping off an artist for the sake of discovery seems even more ignorant.

If you do decide to download the Pinsky album illegally (and we can’t really stop all of you) then support the band by writing a review, buying a shirt, seeing a show, etc.

In the past 3 weeks (geez, that is a long time), things have been extremely positive!  On July 9th, Pinsky drove down to NYC to play a CD release show at the Knitting Factory with Punchline, Bright & Early and Gates.  The entire show was a total blast and I have so much love for all the bands that played.  After the show, we drank a lot of cheap beer on my porch and Pinsky slept in my hot, un-air-conditioned living room.

You certainly need to check out the following:

We also trekked up to Portland, ME last weekend to see Pinsky’s second CD release show with Steiner Street, Late Nite Wars and Ghost Thrower.  Those opening bands were a ton of fun and I’m bummed that LNW is breaking up – but we got to see one of the final shows.  After the show, we drank a ton of cheap beer on someone’s porch and slept in Pinsky’s hot un-air-conditioned living room.  Every time we go up to Portland, we have an amazing time though.  We basically drank around the city and ate lobster rolls and reasonably-priced prime rib.  Too bad it’s so damn far away.

Losing Touch has been getting a ton of good press, which makes us happy because we don’t really want to get a reputation for releasing shitty music to the world (I’m looking at you Fearless Records circa 2004-present).  It’s nice when reviewers and listeners “get” the album.  Here’s a couple worth reading (I’m into bulletted lists today – deal with it):

If any of the reviews should make you feel like actually listening to the album, we suggest picking up a physical copy on our webstore or Interpunk.  But you can also download the album on iTunes and Amazon – or stream it on Spotify, Rhapsody, Mog, etc.  And if you feel like sharing a track for your friends on turntable.fm, that would be awesome too (you can find them in the search)

Lastly, I’d like to mention that our good friends A Great Big Pile of Leaves just finished up a stint with Hellogoodbye, Fake Problems and Fences – and they’re currently on a West coast stint with Happy Body Slow Brain.  Definitely go see those guys and support the fuck out of them.  Also, buy the fuck out of their vinyl because we pressed it and its nice as fuck.  Fuck.
